Today, in Day of memory and grief, commander of the Western military district, hero of the Russian Federation, Colonel-General Alexander Zhuravlev and the crews of the warships in the Gulf of Finland honored the memory of sailors of the Baltic fleet, perished during the great Patriotic war.

At 4 a.m. the ship’s siren base trawler “Paul Know” outlined the air alarm, symbolizing the 79th anniversary of the great Patriotic war. Colonel-General Alexander Zhuravlev on Board the boat lowered into the water wreath. The funeral ceremony, which took place abeam of the lighthouse “Tolbukhin”, ended with a minute of silence as a sign of commemoration of the victims.

The ceremony was attended by the crew of the trawler “Paul Chanov”, hydrographic, anti-sabotage and patrol boats.

Soldiers of the Western military district laid wreaths to the mass graves and military memorial cemetery, located on the territory of the 26 subjects of the North-West and centre of the country.
