Press Release

NEW HAVEN, CT — (June 18, 2020) Today, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) released the following statement after the Supreme Court ruled that the Trump administration cannot proceed with their plan to end the DACA program that protects hundreds of thousands of young immigrants, known as Dreamers.

“I am delighted that with the Supreme Court’s decision today, we can finally say Dreamers, including almost 4,000 DACA recipients in Connecticut, are here to stay. It is unsurprising that the Supreme Court ruled that the President’s reckless decision to end DACA was arbitrary and failed to adequately justify ending DACA. Our country is made stronger and enriched by Dreamers. During the pandemic, 200,000 DACA recipients are essential workers, including health care workers and farm workers, who play critical roles in keeping our country safe. Our government made a promise to DACA recipients, and today’s decision affirms this promise. As a proud cosponsor of the Dream & Promise Act (H.R. 6), I urge the Senate to permanently protect Dreamers.”
