Wakefield Council will be running a week-long online celebration of Castleford’s Roman heritage from 22 – 28 June.

‘Rome from Home’ will replace this year’s Roman Festival due to the coronavirus outbreak.

However, residents will not miss out, with lots of online fun family activities planned each day to explore Castleford’s Roman roots.

There’ll be art and craft challenges, virtual tours of Castleford museum and some of its Roman artefacts, puzzles, recipes and lots more.

Cllr Jacquie Speight, Wakefield Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Sport, said: “We know that a lot of people will be disappointed and we didn’t want families to miss out, that’s why I hope you will take a look at all the exciting online content we have created – there’s something for everyone.”
