Jakarta / Indonesia takes special precaution of wildfire risk in peatlands areas, and attempt to mitigate the risk by rewetting the peatlands by weather modification activities. The Agency for Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) is working closely with partner authorities in this efforts by providing critical information such as cloud growth potential map from weather forecasts, and real time satellite and radar data analyses to determine flight sorties departure and pinpoint location of cloud cells to be seeded. For this tall order, we had made 16 flight sorties during the period of 13-31 May 2020 that associated with 138,1 mm of rainfall.
