11-06-202011 June 2020, the Minister of foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Makei took part in the meeting of foreign Ministers of member countries of the European Union and participating countries of the Eastern partnership in the format of videoconference.
Vladimir Makei stressed the importance of joint actions to overcome the socio-economic impact of the pandemic coronavirus infection COVID-19, welcomed the EU’s intention to assist Belarus in this sphere, thanked the individual members of the EU, which has provided such assistance.
In the context of the vision for further development of the Eastern partnership, the Belarusian foreign Minister stressed the importance of promoting foreign investment, facilitate access of partner countries to the EU market, development of energy and transport communications, the development of green and information technology. The Minister urged to support the proposal of Belarus on the establishment of the Minsk regional IT school of the Eastern partnership.
As one of the achievements of the Eastern partnership Vladimir Makei noted the upcoming July 1, the entry into force of the agreement on the visa facilitation with the European Union. Stated the need for the early commencement of negotiations on a new framework agreement Belarus and the EU.The head of the foreign Ministry of Belarus confirmed the commitment of the Belarusian side the vision of the Eastern partnership as a non-confrontational initiative, aimed at creating a space of peace, stability and prosperity in the region and focused on the achievement of tangible practical results in the interests of the partner countries.
