Headline: ASIA/PHILIPPINES – THE Vincentians: the anti-terrorism law will bring suffering, violence, impunity

Manila – “We, the Vincentian Family in the Philippines, we ask our government to tackle the poverty and suffering of our people, compounded by a health crisis caused by the dreaded virus COVID-19. We need to take care of the poor because they are the most affected. They are already scared and threatened, not only from viruses but also from hunger and pain. We should not threaten them with oppressive laws, which endanger their lives and freedom”: this is according to a communiqué of the Vincentian Family in the Philippines, that combines 14 between the religious congregations, male and female, and lay organizations who recognize themselves in the charism of St Vincent de Paul, criticizing the recent anti-terrorism law approved by the parliament of the Philippines.
