Continuity is crucial, especially when dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic and its consequences. “A closely coordinated approach between the trio of Germany, Portugal and Slovenia is the key to managing the crisis efficiently and in a well-coordinated manner, drawing the right conclusions from it and to lead the European Union out of the crisis even stronger. At the video conference from Slovenia, the Minister of Economic Development and Technology, Zdravko Počivalšek, the Minister of Infrastructure, Jernej Vrtovec, and the Minister of Public Administration, Bšotjan Koritnik, are expected to attend. Portugal will be supported by the Minister of State and Minister for the Economy and Digital Change, Dr. Pedro Siza Vieira and five state secretaries. As in 2007 and 2008, Germany, Portugal and Slovenia form a so-called “Trio EU Council Presidency”, starting with the German EU Council Presidency in the second half of 2020 and followed by the Portuguese and Slovenian in the first and second half of 2021. In June 2020, Germany, Portugal and Slovenia will submit a joint work program for the trio presidency to the Council of the European Union for decision.
