Rep. Axne has repeatedly called for Council Bluffs testing site
Today, Rep. Cindy Axne (IA-03) issued the following statement on Gov. Reynolds’ announcement that Test Iowa will open a COVID-19 testing site in Council Bluffs next week.
“I’m glad that the Governor has heard our call for Pottawattamie County and the southwestern region of our state to get a dedicated Test Iowa site.
Increasing test availability across our state is an essential part of our fight against COVID-19 – and with 193 positive cases and climbing, families from the Council Bluffs-Omaha metropolitan area have voiced deep concerns with me about the safety of their community.
I hope that this new test site will be accompanied by a clear explanation on what plans are in place to keep the site open long enough to serve all who have requested a test – as well as robust transparency on any other ongoing issues with the initiative.”
Rep. Axne has specifically called for a Council Bluffs testing site, citing the hours of travel required for anyone in area to reach a current Test Iowa site.
Earlier this week, Rep. Axne specifically mentioned the growing positive cases in Pottawattamie County in a letter to Governor Reynolds about the Test Iowa initiative. The letter was coauthored by Rep. Abby Finkenauer (IA-01) and Rep. Dave Loebsack (IA-02).
