From the family archive — the archive of the city
“The idea of the virtual Museum was created in April last year. In preparation for the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Victory we launched the project “Moscow — caring for history.” We were motivated by the desire to introduce into scientific circulation and make available to the public materials about the great Patriotic war from the family archives of Muscovites,” — says the Deputy head of the Department for the storage of documents after 1917 Glavarhiva of the city of Moscow Mikhail morukov.
As a result, over the years managed to collect almost 7.5 thousand exhibits. They are now stored in the Glavarhiva, information about them, and historians brought in a special register. Scanned copies of documents and photos of things graded and provided detailed descriptions. In the future, these data will be able to use researchers, educators and people interested in history.
“Going to the site, any visitor has at his disposal a kind of encyclopedia of life in Moscow during the great Patriotic war. Since all events are closely interlinked, he has the broadest view of what was happening in this moment and at the front and in the rear”, — says Mikhail morukov.
History in maps, notes and chart
The project “Moscow — caring for history,” as says the expert, — this site is a Museum with many sections and interactive elements.
All information is sorted in chronological order, from January 1941 to December 1945. In addition, there are thematic blocks: “the Military and political events”, “Moscow news”, “Culture, education, religion, Economics, science, medicine”. In the units the authors of the project placed notes Metropolitan Newspapers. From them visitors can learn that, for example, on 17 February 1941 in Moscow took place the championship of the USSR in speed skating, and in April, the city undertook a decade of Tajik art. Many of the documents and newspaper articles in these sections are published for the first time.
Another important part of the card. They, as well as aerial photographs and explanatory documents are collected in a separate section.
“In fact, on a modern map of Moscow imposed maps and aerial photography of the war. Moreover, each card is a specially marked object, which is the photographic information. Open the map, any visitor may make multiple trips into the past,” explains Mikhail morukov.
Users will be able to see panoramas of streets of the city during the war, photographs of buildings and interiors. So, to recreate the appearance of the metro developers to use the unique documents of the early 40-ies of XX century: economic and technical report with photos and infographics.
