SDLP MLA for Mid Ulster, Patsy McGlone has submitted a written Assembly question to Health Minister, Robin Swann, to ask for an update on our telemedicine capacity.
The Mid Ulster MLA said:
“These are unprecedented times and our health service is working tirelessly to keep us safe and fight back against COVID-19. They deserve our appreciation and most sincere thanks for all that they are doing, in the most challenging of circumstances.”
“However across the North, there are people suffering from a range of health conditions and have been struggling to access care and support in the current context. I have submitted a priority question at the Assembly to the Health Minister to assess our capacity in telemedicines and considering upgrading our capabilities if necessary, in key areas such as mental health provision. This would not replace face to face care, but provide some support in the interim.”
“This would be an important step to maximise spare capacity in certain medical disciplines and provide care to people who need it.”
