At present, almost all EU Member States are applying strict quarantine measures, which make it difficult or impossible for farms to operate.

Farmers are unable to sell meat due to drastically reduced demand following the closure of restaurants, caterers and hotels. It is likely that some farmers will have to slaughter their animals and sell the meat at a loss. Dairy farmers will also be forced to sell milk below cost due to the surplus on the market.

Can the Commission therefore say:

1. What measures does the Commission intend to take to revitalise agriculture after the lifting of the quarantine?

2. How much funding will be allocated for this purpose?

3. Which areas of agriculture will receive particular attention?
