Outlaw motorcycle gang members charged with firearms offences
Friday, 1 May 2020 – 3:28 pm.
Police have charged two members of the Outlaws motorcycle gang with firearms offences.
A 53 year old man was charged following a vehicle intercept at West Moonah in the early hours of yesterday morning. A search of the man’s vehicle, and subsequent search of a residential address, resulted in a quantity of drugs and firearms being located.
The man has been charged with drug trafficking and firearm offences. Police also charged the man with breaches under the Public Health Act, for failing to comply with a direction of the Director of Public Health, by not being at his primary place of residence.
A 25 year old woman was also charged with drug related matters. Both will appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court in August 2020.
As a result, members of Serious Organised Crime Unit and Firearms Services conducted a firearms inspection at an address in Molesworth this morning.
Police seized three shot guns from the licenced firearms owner. The firearms were seized due to his other two firearms being located by police in the possession of a person who did not have a firearms licence and the firearms were not properly stored.
The firearms licence of the owner is now under review.
A 45 year old man will be charged via summons with various firearms offences.
