President Ghani spoke with representatives of the Afghan Women Chamber of Commerce and Industries via videoconference today morning to discuss their recommendations and challenges.
The AWCCI representatives elaborated an array of issues including women businesses and their entrepreneurial activities, efforts to enhance family economy, supporting domestic production, marketing of women products, land for women businesses, and security of women traders and entrepreneurs.
They assured that women are willing to manufacture cleaning agents, protective equipment and clothing such as masks, given the concerns on the spread of corona virus in the country.
Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce Ajmal Ahmady said in spite of the challenges caused by spread of coronavirus, there are opportunities on production of medical equipment and protective wearables in the country.
President Ghani praised women entrepreneurs for their willingness and said support for domestic products is among the top priorities of the government.
The president said operational works has begun on construction of cold storages in ten provinces to store and preserve agricultural products.
He added that the government strives to provide regular and essential opportunities for woman entrepreneurs, particularly through formation of associations that can meet international standards.
President Ghani underlined that the government has adopted necessary measures to provide and arrange 100,000 beds for patients possibly infected with coronavirus.
