Brasília (DF), 04/01/2020 – Last Tuesday, (31), two hospitals in Brasília were disinfected: the Regional Hospital of Asa Norte (HRAN) and the Base Hospital of the Federal District (HBDF). The action is part of Operation Covid-19, which activated 10 Joint Commands spread throughout Brazil and is coordinated by the Ministry of Defense. The activity of the Armed Forces, fighting and preventing the Coronavirus in places of great circulation of people, counted the participation of a team of 12 military personnel 16th Army Logistic Battalion. The cleaning work was done with the application of a substance based on sodium hypochlorite and neutral soap, in the external areas of the hospitals. The cleaning took 30 minutes to eliminate bacteria, viruses and other biological agents.

In conjunction with the Armed Forces decontamination operation, a blood donation campaign was also carried out at the Blood Center in Brasília. The campaign is carried out annually, with the intention of maintaining the blood bank at levels appropriate to the needs. The Blood Center gained a greater reinforcement by the military, spreading the importance of donation in this pandemic moment. “Donating blood is always important. Many patients need blood, such as those undergoing surgical procedures and people with inherited hematological diseases. There is no other source of blood, other than donor solidarity ”, highlights Alexandre Nonino, executive director of the Blood Center.
