Roe on Governor Lee’s “Safer at Home” Executive Order

Washington, March 31, 2020 | Kyle Jacobs (202-225-6356) JOHNSON CITY, TENN. – Today, Rep. Phil Roe, M.D. (R-Tenn.), released the following statement after Governor Lee issued a “Safer at Home” Executive Order to combat the coronavirus: “As difficult a decision as this is, I agree with Governor Lee’s assessment that Tennesseans need to stay at home unless performing essential activities, like going to the grocery store or seeking necessary medical attention. By acting aggressively now, we can stop the virus’ spread and get things back to normal sooner. In East Tennessee, we are still early enough in the virus’ spread that by following the governor’s orders we may be able to avoid having our health care system overrun and seeing loved ones, friends and neighbors die from this virus. We’re asking every Tennessean to do their part in helping us defeat this pandemic and together, we will get through this.”
