18-03-2020 The introduction by several countries of the world of strict restrictive measures on the entry of foreigners provoked a difficult situation with the return of Belarusian citizens following transit. Since the beginning of the acute phase, as of today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Belarusian foreign agencies have provided diverse assistance with the return home of more than 1,700 citizens of our country. This figure does not take into account numerous appeals from the embassies of Belarus in Russia and Ukraine. Only today, among other things, we have managed to ensure the return of those in Lithuania, a group of more than 400 Belarusian children and adults accompanying them, undergoing rehabilitation in the sanatorium “Druskininkai”. The situation with the return of a group of Belarusian citizens from a sanatorium to the city of Jurmala is under special control. We are talking about 136 Belarusian children and the persons accompanying them. In the immediate focus of attention of the Belarusian diplomatic missions is about 1,200 Belarusian citizens. This is not the number of Belarusians abroad, but the estimated number of people who may need assistance in the near future. About 1,100 Belarusian citizens are abroad only through Belarusian tourist operators, including in remote countries. A large number of our compatriots are in Egypt. The situation remains difficult, however, there are no critical issues associated with the threat to the lives of citizens. The work is carried out in close contact with all interested state bodies of Belarus, and there is close interaction with Belavia OJSC . Please note that the national air carrier does not intend to cancel the planned flights, including to EU countries, on the initiative of the Belarusian side, and will continue to deliver Belarusian citizens given to Minsk. We are talking about direct flights to Paris, Berlin, Munich, Hanover, Prague, Budapest and other destinations. Starting March 29, 2020, Belavia OJSC plans to launch the Minsk-Vienna flight. An agreement was reached to continue the flights of Balavia OJSC to Egypt until March 31, 2020 specifically to ensure the possibility of Belarusian citizens leaving. All of these flights are also entitled to and are actively used for return by citizens of Russia and other states. According to current working information , Belarusian citizens can transit to Minsk through Moscow exclusively through the air checkpoints at Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo airports. We pay special attention to the fact that for transit through Moscow it is necessary to have purchased air tickets to the Republic of Belarus, allowing you to leave Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo airports within 24 hours. Detailed official information on the detailed procedure for the transit of citizens of Belarus through air border crossing points in Russia to The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not yet received. Work continues on the search for options for resolving the situation related to the refusal of Russian airlines to board Belarusian tourists from the GOA and Sri Anki. The Belarusian Embassy in India also collects data on all citizens of Belarus who are located in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and so far are deprived of the opportunity to return to their homeland. In this case, the resolution of these difficult situations should be carried out with the more active involvement of all responsible, including tour operators and air carriers. According to statistics from the State Border Committee of Belarus, the number of Belarusian citizens traveling abroad remains significant, despite the recommendations made by the Foreign Ministry. In this regard, we again strongly recommend that you refrain from traveling abroad during this period. We also draw attention to the fact that: on March 18, 2020, the Government of Lithuania decided to extend the possibility for foreign citizens returning to their state of residence to transit through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania until 00.00 March 23, 2020 (the transit corridor expired earlier at the government decision at 00:00 on March 19, 2020). from 18:30 on March 16 to 17:00 on April 14, 2020 a state of emergency was introduced in Armenia; from March 16, 2020 Canada closed the borders for entry of foreign citizens; from March 17 to April 3, 2020, checkpoints across the state border of Ukraine for international passenger traffic are temporarily closed; from March 17, 2020 all land checkpoints are closed in Hungary (only citizens of Hungary and their families can enter the country). Budapest Airport continues to work on departure / transit of foreign citizens; from March 19, 2020, restrictions on entry to the territory of Sweden for a period of 30 days are introduced; an agreement has been reached with the mobile operator MTS to launch free calls for company subscribers located on March 18, 2020 while roaming, on the hotlines of Belarusian diplomatic missions abroad (the list is available here) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus (+375 (17) 327-29-22). Earlier, a similar socially significant step was taken by Life :). We urge you to keep track of relevant information updated on an ongoing basis on the websites of Belarusian foreign institutions and on social networks, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
