Rose, Oddo Call for Steps to Protect Staten Islanders from Coronavirus

After consultation with medical experts, Congressman and BP call for: no visitors to nursing homes, close senior centers, cancel events of more than 100 people

Staten Island, March 12, 2020

Congressman Max Rose and Staten Island Borough President James Oddo issued the following joint statement on efforts to help protect Staten Islanders, and all New Yorkers, from the novel coronavirus (COVID-19):

“The coronavirus is here and we must make hard decisions to ensure our public health. After consultation with our leading medical experts and local health officials, we are calling for three key steps to stop the spread of coronavirus and protect our most vulnerable populations:

  1. No more visitors to nursing homes.
  2. Temporarily close all senior centers.
  3. Cancel or postpone any event of more than 100 people.

“We will continue to consult with all local, state, federal officials, public health experts and healthcare providers to ensure the public is well informed.”
