Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a man following an investigation into an alleged burglary at a high-end fashion store in Melbourne last month

It is alleged a man used a fishing rod to steal a necklace from a mannequin at the Little Collins Street business on Monday 24 February.

Detectives executed a search warrant and arrested a 43-year-old man at his Melton West residence this morning.

He remains in custody assisting police with their enquiries.

The man is expected to be charged with theft and burglary related offences.
