WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Representative Gilbert R. Cisneros, Jr. (CA-39) issued the following statement regarding President Trump’s press conference on the coronavirus, known as COVID-19. Orange County and Los Angeles County have each had one confirmed case of the coronavirus.
“Emergency funding is necessary to respond to the coronavirus. We need to take this public health issue seriously and proactively combat this disease. I will continue to do everything I can in Congress to get the information, funding, and resources to keep our families and community healthy and safe, especially since California, Orange County, and Los Angeles have been dealing with the coronavirus since January,” said Rep. Cisneros. “For the future, we need to make investments in preventative efforts, and that means rejecting the President’s budget proposal that makes drastic cuts to the CDC, WHO, and NIH. My office and I will continue to monitor the situation closely and work with our federal, state, and local governments to protect our communities.”
