26-02-202026 February 2020 in the city of Leipzig (Saxony) took place on 17-th meeting of the Belarusian-German working group on trade and investment.
The Belarusian delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of foreign Affairs Evgeny Shestakov. The delegation also includes Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus in Germany Denis Sidorenko, representatives of the Ministry of foreign Affairs, the National Agency of investment and privatization the Belarusian chamber of Commerce and industry, high-tech Park, the Belarusian universal commodity exchange, a free economic zone “Brest”, JSC “JSSB Belarusbank”, CJSC “company for the development of the industrial Park”.
The composition of the German delegation under the leadership of the Director of the Department for external economic policy Federal Ministry of Economics and energy Eckhard Franz became extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Germany in the Republic of Belarus Manfred Huterer, representatives of the Eastern Committee of German economy, Association of German economy in cooperation with the countries of Eastern Europe, the German energy Agency (DENA), the German economic group in Belarus, Representative office of German economy in Belarus.
The agenda covered a wide range of issues of bilateral trade-economic and investment cooperation, interaction in the field of logistics, the banking and credit sector, the organization of training programs for Belarusian specialists in Germany.During the meeting the parties discussed the prospects of increasing bilateral trade, the expansion of German business in Belarus, including in the zones with preferential investment regime.Special attention is paid to the prospects of fostering cooperation between the two countries in the field of information technology with an emphasis on the use of high-tech Park.A positive assessment to bilateral cooperation in the energy sphere, including the exchange of experience on energy efficiency.Members of the Belarusian delegation was briefed in detail by the German colleagues about the system steps of the Government of the Republic of Belarus on improvement of the investment climate in the country.The parties noted significant potential for further expansion of bilateral trade, including through the implementation in Belarus of new investment projects with participation of German business. The Belarusian delegation also presented the priorities of Kazakhstan’s chairmanship in the Eurasian economic Union in 2020. On the same day was held a regular meeting of the Business Council “Belarus-Saxony”, created in 2009 jointly by the BCCI and Industrial chamber of Commerce of Leipzig.
On the proposal of the German side, the Belarusian delegation visited located in Saxony, one of the leading automotive companies of Germany “BMW”, where he got acquainted with modern technologies of production of hybrid cars and electric vehicles.Belarusian version English version
