Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses to an assault in Oxford.

Between 6am and 9am on Saturday (15/2) a woman was assaulted by a man in Greater Leys or Blackbird Leys.

She was hit to the left hand side of her face causing bruising and reddening to her eye.

Following the assault, the victim, an 18-year-old woman, ran from the offender and knocked on a number of houses in the area.

An unknown man intervened and helped the victim get back to her own property in Oxford.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Sean Campbell based at St Aldates police station, said: “We would like to speak to anyone who may have information about this incident.

“The woman was very distressed and as this was in daylight hours, it is likely people will have seen this incident and have information about it.

“We would especially like to speak to the man who helped the victim. You are not in trouble but could have vital information that will help with this investigation.

A man, aged 22, from Oxford has been arrested on suspicion of assault and released on police bail until 12 March.
