According to the head of the Russian National centre for reducing nuclear danger Sergey Ryzhkov in the framework of the implementation of the International Treaty on Open skies a Russian team of inspectors plans to carry out an observation flight on a Russian surveillance aircraft an-30B over the territory of the Hellenic Republic.

Observation flight over Greece will run from 17 to 21 February 2020 from the airfield the Open sky NEA Anchialos. The maximum range will be 1010 miles.

Russian observation aircraft will perform the flight according to the agreed with the observed party route, and Greek specialists on Board will monitor the utilization of the equipment monitoring and observance of the provisions stipulated in the Contract.

Observation flights under the Treaty are to promote greater openness and transparency in the military activities of States parties, as well as strengthening security through confidence-building measures.
