Munich – the Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States of the Holy see, and the Deputy prime minister and Minister of Foreign affairs of china Wang Yi met in Munich and have had an interview in the afternoon of Friday, 14 February, in the framework of the Munich Security Conference 2020, the annual conference on the policies of global security which, since 1963, is held every year in Monaco of Bavaria. It was the first official meeting of this level between a representative of the Holy see and a member of the government of the people’s Republic of China. “In the course of the interview, which took place in a friendly atmosphere,” said the statement released by the vatican Press office in the late evening of Friday, February 14 “have been mentioned the contacts between the two Parties, which had developed positively over time.” In particular, “has highlighted the importance of the Interim Agreement on the appointment of Bishops, signed on September 22, 2018, renewing also the willingness to continue the institutional dialogue at the bilateral level to foster the life of the catholic Church and the good of the chinese People”.
