On February 13, 2020 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, met with the Member of the Federal Council, Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, Ignazio Cassis, who is on the working visit to our country for the first time in the history of bilateral relations.

During the meeting, the sides reaffirmed mutual interest in maintaining and strengthening the positive dynamics of the development of Belarusian-Swiss relations, highlighted the significant contribution of inter-parliamentary contacts to the process of their activation, outlined steps to further improve the level of political dialogue.
The parties discussed a wide range of issues regarding the developing of the bilateral cooperation in the political, trade, investment, humanitarian, consular and other fields, within the framework of international organizations. The sides exchanged views on current issues on the international agenda.

The Belarusian side named among the most promising areas the creation in Belarus with the participation of Swiss companies of modern high-tech industries focused on foreign markets, as well as studying the Swiss experience and expanding bilateral cooperation in the peaceful settlement of international conflicts, mutual support in promoting peace initiatives.

On the same day, the Foreign Ministers of Belarus and Switzerland took part in the official opening ceremony of the Embassy of the Swiss Confederation in the Republic of Belarus.
