Tuesday 11 February 2020, around 09: 00, the Police cantonale, via the emergency telephone number 117, has been notified of a serious accident involving a passenger car in Yverdon-les-Bains, avenue Haldimand. According to the first elements, the driver came out of a courtyard at the wheel of his car. Wanting to embark on this avenue, he lost control of his car, which crossed the road and smashed into the wall of a building opposite. His wife, a Swiss lady of 81 years old, who had taken a seat at the front, was seriously injured. Despite the rapid intervention of rescue, and she died on the scene. The driver, a Switzerland, 85 years old, was taken to the Hospital of Yverdon by an ambulance. His days are not in danger.

The prosecutor service has opened an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of this accident. The investigations have been entrusted to the specialists of the units outstanding of the gendarmerie vaudoise.
