Day 3 Convective Outlook
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
0208 AM CST Sun Jan 12 2020

Valid 141200Z – 151200Z

…THERE IS A MARGINAL RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PARTS OF
THE LOWER TO MID MISSISSIPPI AND TENNESSEE VALLEYS…

…SUMMARY…
Thunderstorms are expected to develop on Tuesday across parts of the
Tennessee Valley. Some of these storms could have a marginal hail
threat.

..Lower to Mid Mississippi and Tennessee Valleys…
An upper-level trough is forecast to move eastward across the
western U.S. on Tuesday as west to southwest mid-level flow remains
from the Great Plains eastward to the Eastern Seaboard. A moist
airmass should be in place from the Texas Coastal Plains eastward
into the central Gulf Coast region. On the northern edge of the
moist airmass, a belt of increased low-level winds should exist from
the Arklatex into the Tennessee Valley. Thunderstorm development
will be possible along this corridor during the day. Although the
convection may be largely elevated, MUCAPE values of 800 to 1000
J/kg and effective shear of 30-40 kt may be enough for a marginal
hail threat.
