The Agriculture, Fisheries & Conservation Department will hold the MacLehose Trail 40th Anniversary Celebration Day at Shing Mun Country Park on October 26.
People are welcome to join the event’s fun-filled activities, including treetop adventures, a hiking challenge, guided tours to war relics, and more.
The first long-distance hiking trail in Hong Kong, the MacLehose Trail was opened on October 26, 1979 and traverses from east to west through eight country parks.
As the most representative hiking trail in the city, and having been named as one of the world’s 20 dream trails by National Geographic magazine, the 100 km trail is divided into 10 sections.
The sections embrace magnificent natural scenery, historical relics and a wide range of wild fauna and flora, while winding past the coastline, rugged mounds, valley and reservoirs.
The department is also organising many interesting celebration events such as a public talk and a workshop on the maintenance of the trail, and has produced a series of short videos to showcase the trail’s beauty.
