Features of the new government

The new Government is a cohesive, stable Government with technical and political competence and more equal:

There is a strengthening of the Government’s central nucleus: with four Ministers of State, Pedro Siza Vieira, Augusto Santos Silva, Mariana Vieira da Silva and Mario Centeno, which will allow the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs to fully ensure the conduct of the Portuguese Presidency of the European Union.

There is greater gender parity with 8 women as ministers and 11 ministers.

There are two cross-cutting ministries: State Modernization and Public Administration (responsible for Simplex, decentralization and human resources) and Planning, focused on completing Portugal 2020, launching the new framework and rebuilding planning and prospective analysis in the state.

There is a transversal coordination of the 4 strategic challenges of the Government program:

1 – Climate Action at the Minister of Environment and Climate Action;

2 – Demography at the Minister of State and Presidency;

3 – Inequalities in the Minister of State and the Presidency;

4 – Digital Transition in the Minister of State, Economy and Digital Transition.

There is autonomy of the Ministry of Territorial Cohesion, as a manifestation of the priority to the valorization of the territory.

Forests are transferred to the environment by unifying ICNF tutelage, strengthening fire prevention and strengthening the fight against climate change.

The new government has stability: 14 ministers stay ahead of the same portfolios, with 5 new ministers.
