The Portuguese Government strongly condemns yesterday’s attack on the United Nations and AMISOM complex in the area of Mogadishu International Airport in Somalia. The attack, claimed by the terrorist group Al-Shabab, injured 7 people, none seriously, including a Portuguese citizen who is part of the United Nations cadres.

The Portuguese Government expresses its full solidarity with the United Nations, the African Union and the Somali Federal Government and addresses the wishes of a speedy recovery to all wounded. Regarding the national citizen, the Portuguese diplomatic representation in Nairobi follows his clinical situation, ensuring the necessary support.

The Portuguese Government also reiterates its commitment, particularly in the multilateral framework, to the fight against terrorism and extremism.
