After being approved in general by the Chamber of Deputies Chamber, the Health Commission began the discussion and particular vote on the project that modifies the Health Code to regulate generic bioequivalent drugs and prevent vertical integration of laboratories and pharmacies (bulletin 9914) , known as Drug Law II.

On the occasion, the instance approved two indications, which, in the opinion of legislators, are central to the international common denomination of medicines.

“It was approved that the denomination remain as an international common denomination and that, in coherence with this, the drug box has proportionally as a greater predominance the name of international common denomination,” explained the president of the instance, Ricardo Celis (PPD).

For his part, Deputy Víctor Torres (DC) reiterated the urgency of legislating this initiative promptly.

“We have maintained the essential, which has to do with the recipe and with the international common denominator, leaving aside the recipe with the name of fantasy, so that you do not charge more for a medicine, just for having this fantasy name , which simply responds to a commercial issue and not a health reason, ”said the legislator.
