The agreement between Chile and the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), which makes it possible to carry out in our country the 88th session of the General Assembly and the Meetings of the Executive Committee of the agency (bulletin 12954), heads the table of the Chamber of the Chamber of Deputies for this Tuesday, October 8.

It is estimated that the event, to be held in Santiago between October 12 and 18 of this year, will be attended by around 1,400 executives and experts from police bodies of the member countries, as well as ministers of state and police chiefs , which will make Chile known as the world headquarters and reference in the fight against organized crime.

The agreement, signed in Paris and Lyon, in August 2019, establishes the guarantees that will ensure the success of the General Assembly and the meetings of its Executive Committee, granting to the secretary general, the members of the Executive Committee, which include to the president of the organization, to the heads of delegation of the member countries and to the persons accredited to participate in the said meetings, the privileges and immunities that are necessary to exercise their functions independently.

The proposal will be presented to the Chamber by means of the reports of the RREE and Finance Commissions, which will be rendered by Deputies Carmen Hertz (PC) and Sofía Cid (RN), respectively.

The Chamber also contemplates continuing the discussion of the project established by the Protected Middle Class System (bulletin 12661), whose reports from the Social Development and Finance Commissions were already rendered in a previous session.

The initiative, whose name was modified in its procedure in the Treasury by the “Integral Social Protection Network”, seeks to take over the mandate of the Ministry of Social Development to meet the needs of people, who without being vulnerable, are at risk of falling in vulnerability due to the occurrence of a specific adverse event.

The idea is that, through an executive secretariat that deals with these complex situations, the current programmatic offer of the State towards this group of the population is provided or channeled.

Additionally, the table includes three other proposed laws: 1. To modify Law 17,288, on National Monuments, establishing the benefit of the excuse, with respect to the owner of a property declared a national monument. To improve the replacement system of electric meters. 3. In terms of convening communal plebiscites, at the request of citizens, and their binding nature.
