In the capital 20 per cent of the territory is occupied by industrial zones, and most of them should be reconstructed.
In Moscow, 20 percent of territories occupied by industrial zones. Rehabilitation of old industrial zones need to focus on integrated development and development of these territories so that they become well maintained urban neighborhoods. This was told Sergei Sobyanin in interview to the program “Week in the city” on TV channel “Russia 1”.
“If you climb over Moscow, it is clear that it is all torn up huge chunks of old industrial areas. This does not mean that all of them need to be reformed, but more than half of the required reorganization”, — he said.
The mayor said that during the reconstruction of the industrial zone “ZIL” was created 60 thousand jobs. Before the reorganization there was only one thousand people, who elaborated on a dying industry.
Development of former industrial zones
About 70 percent of the abandoned industrial territories of Moscow or already rekonstruiruet, or them being project work and developed planning documentation. The biggest project is rebuilding the former industrial zone “ZIL”. Here built a large residential quarter is being built the largest in Russia the school for 2.5 thousand students, developing the transport infrastructure and carried out large-scale landscaping. One of the objects, which will become a symbol of not only this region but of the whole of a large indoor theme Park “Island of dreams”.
Another industrial area, which is going to be reorganized, — Badaevskiy plant. It is planned that this will preserve the historic building and the new one will fit into the surrounding buildings. The reorganization project is now being developed.

Sergei Sobyanin noted that the number of tourists in Moscow continues to grow.
“This year we see even more growth in tourism. And I think that we are confident we exceeded 24 million tourists a year. That is a big, huge figure. And in the city’s economy about 120 billion rubles only in urban income,” said the Mayor.
