Work from Sept. 30-Oct.9 requires detours, extra travel time during closure.
MEDICAL LAKE – Drivers who use State Route 902 and the Medical Lake/SR 902 interchange at Interstate 90 will need to find alternate routes during an upcoming 10 day closure.
The closure beginning, Monday, Sept. 30 through Wednesday, Oct. 9, will include the intersection of SR 902 and westbound I-90 on and off-ramps.
Closing the Medical Lake/SR 902 interchange will allow crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation to construct the second of three roundabouts being built at the Medical Lake interchange. Once the 10 day closure is complete, drivers will begin using the newly constructed roundabout.
The accelerated building of the roundabout is due to delays caused by utility relocation work. The contractor will accelerate the schedule by working 24 hours a day for 10 continuous days. Original construction was to be completed with multiple traffic control stages with a minimum duration of six to seven weeks.
During the closure, drivers who use westbound I-90 and need to exit at Medical Lake/SR 902 interchange will be detoured at the I-90 at the Geiger Boulevard exit. Drivers heading westbound on the south side of I-90 will follow marked detours to return to westbound I-90.
