Conquerors of Serosa: five stories of the main winners of the Russian Olympiad At scientific top. As Muscovites are preparing for international contests of pupils

Andrey Panferov is a graduate of the Specialized educational scientific center named after A. N. Kolmogorov at Moscow state University named after M. V. Lomonosov, silver medalist of the Asian physics Olympiad, gold medalist International physics Olympiad, winner of all-Russian Olympiad. Now, his victories have been added and international competition of cities. Andrew told how the Olympics was held with any of the rivals he met and what practical problems had to be solved.

— What is the fundamental difference between Olympics cities from other international competitions?

— The main thing is that there are several disciplines. In other words, if the international Olympiad concentrate on one thing — physics or mathematics, then in this competition are simultaneously present and of mathematics and physics, and chemists, and programmers.

I first participated in this competition. The tasks were really challenging, the level of difficulty they are comparable with the tasks of international competitions. Despite the fact that participation is open to students 14 years of age, mainly in teams composed of high school students.

— How long was the Olympics?

— Almost a week — from 1 to 6 September. At first it was opening, then blister, the first round, the second and closing.

On lecture the whole team together working to solve problems. The questions relate to one of the four disciplines, but are mixed in and signed, to what kind of discipline they belong to. That is the first thing we did was assign tasks among themselves and then decided.

Subsequent tours are written separately on subjects, everyone writes their own. Competitions in different subjects are held on different venues, but still possible some cooperation. For example, in an experimental tour through physics, we worked on two, and a theoretical tour wrote one and did to each other interacted.

— What tasks were in the practice round.?

We studied the dissolution of carbon dioxide in water — in other words, find out how much gas is in carbonated mineral water. Each team was a large set of special equipment, installed a few gauges. Yet we were given a laptop with special software that allows you to take readings from pressure gauges and charts.

Did during the Olympics, mingle with participants from other countries?

— Yes, I met with the guys from Turkey, made friends with them and we continue to communicate until now.

— In what University you did?

— In the Moscow Institute of physics and technology (MIPT) at the faculty of General applied physics. The faculty is very good, the Institute too. Classes for me while fairly simple, since I know most of the program, in the first half for sure. The teachers are very strong. It is very interesting.

— Do with a busy schedule of study and various Olympiads fees and time for any Hobbies?

— I’m interested in Japanese culture: read comics, watch anime.
