After the meeting, at the end of the Forum, Tuvalu, heads of delegations and member countries and territories of the Pacific islands Forum, a final statement was prepared.

It, summarizing the entire discussion of the week, has reaffirmed the importance of the fight against climate change, the Pacific islands, in keeping with the objectives and thresholds identified in the framework of the Paris Agreements, in 2015.

The paper develops this theme and emphasizes the ongoing commitment of the Pacific islands to act, with major nations in this field.

The states and territories that are members of the Pacific islands Forum have already planned to continue to make their voices heard on the topic during the climate meeting, held in New York next September by the United Nations.

One of the points of the final communiqué also focuses on the organization of the ” One planet summit in April of next year, during the official visit of the president of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, French Polynesia. The members of the Pacific islands Forum welcomed this initiative.

The presidency of the Pacific islands Forum is going to be insured for a year by Tuvalu. The next meeting of the Pacific islands Forum is expected in 2020, Vanuatu, and the following year in Fiji, and in 2022 in Kiribati.
