Monday, September 16th now marks the last day to apply for reimbursement funds used to support migrant food and shelter from January – June 2019
Washington, D.C.–Today, Congresswoman Torres Small (NM-2) issued a notice to qualified New Mexican local organizations, non-profits and churches to file reimbursement applications prior to Monday, September 16, 2019, with the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Emergency Food and Shelter Program. FEMA extended the deadline for applications from September 6, 2019 to September 16, 2019. Eligible applicants include local organizations that provided food and shelter to migrants that arrived in their communities as part of the influx of families voluntarily presenting at the southern border from January to June 2019.
Torres Small’s latest reminder notice follows a series of conference calls with stakeholders this summer and a July 24th Oversight, Management, and Accountability Subcommittee briefing she led asking Department of Homeland Security officials to update the Committee on the border supplemental funding provided to the department in late June 2019.
