In the context of the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonis Diamataris yesterday inaugurated the Digital Exhibition of the Venice Hellenic Institute of Byzantine and post-Byzantine Studies, which contains an Illuminated Manuscript on the life and works of Alexander the Great.

This exhibit is the first digital presentation of the manuscript that gives an account of the life and works of the Macedonian General and civilizer of the peoples of the East, Alexander the Great.

The digital exhibit – entitled “The legend of Alexander the Great as a Byzantine heritage. The testimony of a Byzantine manuscript” – displays miniature illustrations outlining the main elements of the life of Alexander the Great. Deputy Minister Diamataris and the Secretariat General for Diaspora Greeks have now taken under their auspices the promotion of this important piece of our cultural heritage, which is to travel throughout the world.
