WHEELING, WV — Gov. Jim Justice helped celebrate a milestone birthday for Wheeling, riding in the city’s 250th Anniversary Parade downtown Saturday.

During the parade, the Governor rode along in a 1959 Pontiac convertible, greeting spectators and taking in the pageantry of the event. 

After the parade, Gov. Justice tweeted: “Happy 250th birthday Wheeling! Honored to ride in the parade today and celebrate with many, many great West Virginians!”

The parade began at 20th Street and continued through Market Street and Main Street.

Other dignitaries in the parade included United States Senator Shelley Moore Capito, U.S. Congressman David McKinley, Wheeling Mayor Glenn Elliott, and West Virginia University President Gordon Gee.

Additional parade participants included the WVU Marching Band, U.S. Army Old Guard Fife & Drum Corps, local bands, local Boy Scout and Girl Scout Troops, many floats, and more.
