Minister for Employment Senator Eric Abetz today announced that the Government’s new jobactive employment services model has recorded 50,000 placements of job seekers into work.

Since 1 July 2015, the Government’s new $6.8 billion jobactive employment service across Australia has delivered a new era of more practical and effective support for job seekers and employers.

“The best form of welfare is a job and it’s clear that jobactive is delivering by ensuring job seekers are becoming job ready and then moving into work,” Senator Abetz said today.

“The simple fact is that under this Government, more Australians are in work than ever before and this programme is making a real difference for tens of thousands of Australians.”

Assistant Minister for Employment Luke Hartsuyker MP said the new jobactive service will help more job seekers into work and ensure that employers receive the assistance they need when recruiting staff.

“The new model has a number of features designed to assist jobseekers, including a $1.2 billion wage subsidy pool, a revamped Work for the Dole and an $18 million National Work Experience Programme.”

As part of the wage subsidy pool, employers can access up to $6,500 if they hire an eligible young job seeker under 30 years, an Indigenous job seeker, a parent, or someone who has been out of work for 12 months or more. A subsidy of up to $10,000 is also available if they hire an eligible job seeker aged 50 years or older.

“I look forward to continuing to work closely with all jobactive providers to help more job seekers into work and to help employers find suitable employees,” Mr Hartsuyker said.

“Only a Coalition Government can deliver more jobs for Australians,” Senator Abetz concluded.
