05.09.2019 On 12 September, the Multicultural Cohesion Service (COSM), in collaboration with the municipality of Val-de-Travers, opens a consultation and social information center. It will be held every Thursday afternoon, from 1:30 pm to 5 pm, in the premises of the municipal administration, rue du Temple 8, in Fleurier. This openness is part of the desire of the Council of State to facilitate access to COSM services throughout the canton. The service of multicultural cohesion (COSM) is the competent cantonal service in the fields of integration, multicultural cohesion and the prevention of discrimination and racism. The opening of this new decentralized office in collaboration with the municipality of Val-de-Travers is complementary to that already provided in Neuchâtel since the entire service was grouped at La Chaux-de-Fonds. The COSM offers local access to its services, which are intended for the entire population, Swiss and foreign, associations and institutions, as well as professionals in the Val-de-Travers. As part of its duties, the COSM offers advice, information and support to: Newcomers to the canton. These can benefit from an individualized information interview, in their language if necessary. They get information, advice and support regarding their installation and the first steps to take when they arrive. To any person, group, association or community residing in the canton and facing a situation related to the migration context and discrimination. In this context, consultation can be done by phone, email or mail. Professionals of ordinary structures, public or private, who are looking for advice, information, contacts with migrant communities and / or expertise of the service for any question related to integration, intercultural relations and the prevention of racism and discrimination The COSM’s advice and information services are offered free of charge to anyone, regardless of their status. Those who do not speak enough French can request a consultation in another language. The other services offered by the MSOC such as support for associations active in the areas of integration, multicultural cohesion and prevention of discrimination, coaching in community projects, mediation, etc. can also be set up in Fleurier on request. The opening of this office in the Val-de-Travers contributes to concretizing the will displayed by the Council of State, as part of its “roadmap for an egalitarian administration and open to diversity”, to propose to the the whole of the Neuchâtel population equitable access to public services.
