Sixteen years after the inauguration of the first Citizen Shop in the country, also in Lisbon, but in Laranjeiras, this space will assume a new centrality, constituting one of the main places of public services in this municipality.

New features in the attendance of this store are the early distribution of passwords, as well as the existence of a team of mediators of the Lisbon City Council, who will assist in the referral of citizens to the entities or services they want.

This infrastructure will provide counters of the Tax Authority, Institute of Social Security, Institute of Registries and Notaries, Institute of Mobility and Transport, Citizen Space, Lisbon Initiative, Gebalis, Carris and EMEL, bringing together services such as the application or renewal of the citizen card and passport, revalidation / amendment of driving license, obtaining criminal record, delivery of expense documents to ADSE or application for Lisboa VIVA card.

Concept and Number of Stores in the Country

Citizen’s Stores are an integrated model for providing face-to-face services that, in addition to providing citizens with comfort and convenience, allow them to deal with various issues in the same space, saving time and travel costs, as well as sharing resources, infrastructure and platforms. , enhancing the efficiency and cost reduction of the state. There are currently 56 Citizen Stores, 20 of which have been opened since 2015, of which three in 2019, already with Saldanha’s infrastructure.

The building adaptation contract was carried out by the Agency for Administrative Modernization and the municipality of Lisbon. With an investment of 2.2 million euros, the Saldanha Citizen Shop will have 154 employees and dozens of services, not only from central but also from local government. It is estimated that this store serves more than 700,000 citizens annually, which will position it as one of the five stores with the most services in the country.
