A charity cycle ride send off and a family fun day are among the events in the Mayoral diary this week.

Thursday 29 August – The Mayor will give participants in the Kwik Fit charity cycle ride a send off. The riders, who are raising funds for Children with Cancer UK, are setting off from the Kwik Fit branch in Maskew Avenue, Peterborough, from 8.45am.

Friday 30 August – The Mayor and Deputy Mayor will take part in celebrations for Timorese Freedom Day. The event takes place at Peterborough Town Hall in Bridge Street from 7pm until 9pm and will showcase traditional Timorese dancing, music and food.

Saturday 31 August – The Mayor, Mayoress and Deputy Mayor will make a speech to welcome guests to a family fun day at Central Park in Peterborough from 12.15pm. The event is being organised by the Friends of Central Park group and will feature live music, arts and crafts and a dog show.

Saturday 31 August – The Mayor, Mayoress and Deputy Mayor will say a few words of welcome at a Holiday Club event taking place at Serpentine Green shopping centre in Peterborough from 2.15pm until 4pm. The club, run by Bisoye Babalola, offers young people a chance to enjoy creative activities during the school holidays. 

Saturday 31 August – The Mayor and Mayoress will attend a welcome service for Reverend Shameela Jameelee-Samuel at Brookside Methodist Church in Gunthorpe Road, Peterborough, from 9.45pm until 8pm.
