Funeral directors are singing the praises of a new improved sound system which has been installed at the Worcester Crematorium this month.

The City Council has upgraded the Crematorium’s loud speakers and amplification system.  Outdoor speakers have also been fitted this summer, providing clear and high quality sound that allows services to reach a wider audience if required.

The speakers connect through to an existing multimedia system, which was initially installed at Worcester Crematorium last year.  It gives families the option to stream funeral services live to friends and families across the globe who are not able to attend in person.  Services can also be discreetly recorded.

“There’s been a very positive reaction from ministers, funeral directors and staff to the improved offer at the Worcester Crematorium,” says Cllr Andy Stafford, Vice Chair of the City Council’s Environment Committee.

“We are keen to investigate any new features which will improve the service we can offer to families, friends and colleagues attending funerals.”

The Crematorium’s multimedia system allows funeral directors to sit with relatives, listen to and select music in advance of the funeral.  Not only can they hear and decide which song or piece they want played, but they can also pinpoint and upload the exact extract from each piece.  The material can then be prepared and uploaded in advance of the funeral day.
