A family picnic and poignant service to remember VJ Day are dates in the Mayoral diary this week.
Thursday 15 August – The Mayor, Mayoress and Deputy Mayor will enjoy a family picnic in aid of the Mayor’s charities which are; Little Miracles, Carers Trust Peterborough and Friends of Peterborough Hospital. The event takes place at the Little Miracles playgroup at The Spinney in Hartwell Way, Peterborough from 10am until 3pm.
Friday 16 August – The Mayor and Mayoress will attend a Queens Award presentation ceremony, with members of the Hampton Tiddlers playgroup being handed the accolade from the Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire. The presentation takes place at the Tesco Community Room at the Serpentine Green shopping centre from 11am until 12pm.
Saturday 17 August – The Mayor and Mayoress will be special guests at an activities day held by the Peterborough University of the Third Age group. Their visit takes place between 11am and 12pm at the Queen Katherine Academy in Mountsteven Avenue in Peterborough.
Saturday 17 August – The Mayor and Mayoress will be special guests at a Friendship Fete held in Sages Lane, Walton, between 2pm and 5pm.
Sunday 18 August – The Mayor, Mayoress and Deputy Mayor will attend a special service to commemorate the anniversary of VJ Day. The service takes place in the Sunken Garden in Central Park, Peterborough, from 2.15pm until 4pm.
