VGP – Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh on Thursday had bilateral meetings with Foreign Ministers of China, the US, Canada, Cambodia and the UK in Bangkok, Thailand on the sidelines of the 52nd ASEAN Ministerial Meeting and related meetings.

At his meeting with Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh stressed Viet Nam attaches importance to the relationship with China.
Regarding sea issues, Minh stated the consistent stance of Viet Nam and called for efforts from both sides to maintain peace and stability, well control divergences and take no actions that may complicate the situation in the East Sea.
Both sides need to satisfactorily settle disputes in the East Sea through peaceful measures on the basis of serious compliance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
Wang said that the Party and Government of China treasure the relationship with Viet Nam and have tried to maintain the ties.
The same day, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh also had bilateral meetings with Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn, New Zealand’s Foreign Minster Winston Peters, and UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab to discuss ways to foster cooperation between Viet Nam and these countries as well as regional and international issues of common concerns./.
