The Police said it will conduct a clearance operation at Western District in view of the situation that followed a public procession today.

Police made the decision after some participants went beyond their finishing point in Wan Chai and proceeded to Western District, where they blocked roads and vandalised cars and the outer walls of buildings.

In the face of escalating violence, Police will conduct a clearance operation, starting from Western District towards the east.

The Police appeal to members of the public to avoid travelling to relevant areas.

Residents and workers in the areas of concern should mind their personal safety and stay tuned to the latest announcements from Police.

Participants of the public procession are urged to take public transport and leave as soon as possible.
