The Uri Reuss delta is an indispensable part of the canton of Uri. The recreational and nature reserve in the lakeside area between Flüelen and Seedorf invites the population to enjoy, move, discover and linger. The catchment area of the Urner Reuss has become an important habitat for the flora and fauna.

In order to protect and promote nature and animals, the Uri government has therefore issued a protection regulation and launched the Reuss Delta Commission. This is responsible for the implementation of the measures and is the government council with expert advice to the side. The review of rules and prohibitions on site is carried out by the Reuss Delta supervision. These so-called rangers patrol the Reuss delta, inform the visitors about the nature reserve, check compliance with the protection regulations or check the infrastructure and traffic routes. In case of non-compliance with the rules, the rangers are also authorized to pronounce order buses.

On Friday afternoon, June 21, 2019, Uri Cantonal Police, together with members of the Reuss Delta Supervisor, conducted an inspection of the reserve. Despite the bad weather conditions the traffic routes were controlled and the lakeshore was sailed by inflatable boat. It had to be issued a police order for ignoring the Leinentragpflicht.

The good cooperation and the exchange between rangers and police was valuable and will be useful for the future.
