The Construction Department of the Canton of Zug is renovating the Ägeristrasse in the municipality of Baar from Monday, 1 July 2019, probably until March 2020. From Monday, July 8, 2019, the Margel-Talacher road section will be closed to all traffic for five weeks during the summer holidays.

The construction work essentially comprises a roadway widening for a biking track leading uphill. At the same time, the lines are optimized and additional viewing zones created for the sake of safety. The road superstructure and the edge finishes will be renewed and the street drainage will be adapted.

Temporary road closure To significantly shorten the construction period, a full closure is inevitable for the mentioned road section above Baar between Margel and Talacher. The closure will take place from 8 July to 11 August 2019 during the summer holidays. The aim is to carry out a large part of the planned work without traffic with several assemblies and longer working hours. The signaled diversion from Ägerital to Baar / Zurich and from Baar to Menzingen / Ägeri is via Edlibach. The access roads to the properties can be guaranteed during this period.

Bus service during the blockage The buses of the ZVB line 34 run from the Baar station only to the stop Hof Himmelrich. The stops Neuguet and Moos are not served during the full closure. Consequently, the mountain communities are only accessible by train. Passengers wishing to travel in the direction of Talacher-Allenwinden-Oberägeri will take the connections via train Metalli / Bahnhof during the road closure: the ZVB line 3 or the SBB line S1 direction Baar and the ZVB line 1 direction Oberägeri.

Continuation of the renovation After the closure, the construction work will be continued in several stages in a single lane with traffic light operation. The expected end of construction on Ägeristrasse is scheduled for the end of March 2020, subject to weather conditions. The cover layer will also be installed after the end of the renovation with full closure during two weekends.

Current information of the construction sites on the InternetBecause the construction works are weather dependent, shifts can not be excluded. The cantonal civil engineering office will inform you about the exact dates of the construction. Relevant information can be found on the website, The client takes the necessary precautions to minimize traffic disruption.
