ABS have released 2018 travel export data

Key results for education related travel by market, sector, and each state and territory:
Top markets
The total education export earnings increased by 16.5 per cent to $35.2 billion in 2018
Nepal experienced the strongest growth (up 63.9 per cent  with China, India and Brazil all recording double digit growth
Eight of the top 10 markets recorded increases, all except Thailand and Hong Kong (down by -4.5 per cent and -0.6 per cent respectively)
Other fast growing markets included Bhutan (up 44.2 per cent), Mongolia (up 36.5 per cent), Sri Lanka (up 32.5 per cent), Cambodia (31.3 per cent), Columbia (up 30.2 per cent), and Chile (up 30.2 per cent)

By states/territories
Education export earnings increased in all states – Victoria experienced the greatest increase in value (up $1.9 billion), while Tasmania, for the second year in a row, experienced the strongest growth (41.4 per cent)

By Sectors
VET and higher education generated $30.7 billion in education exports in 2018 (88.3 per cent share), experiencing double digit growth (21.4 per cent and 17.6 per cent respectively)
The growth rates for ELICOS and non-award slowed to 1.3 per cent and 1.0 per cent respectively in 2018.
