The Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Christelle Lehartel opened on Tuesday, the seminar on Cycle 3 at school and new governance in the presence of the Vice-Rector of French Polynesia, Philippe Couturaud, Director Cabinet of Education, Manuel Sanquer, and the Director of the Directorate General of Education and Teaching (DGEE), Thierry Delmas.

The introductory intervention was provided in a vision-conference, from Paris, by the Inspector General of National Education, Laurent Brisset. The objective of this seminar, which is held over 4 days, is to take stock of one year of operation of the two devices, to identify strengths and areas for improvement by integrating the new sites of the 2019 school year -2020.

The mayors of the sites hosting a 6th grade at the school and the new governance, the 1st and 2nd degree inspectors ensuring the pedagogical follow-up, the college principals of the sectors concerned, the school directors, the pedagogical advisers and the teachers. Teachers who teach Cycle 3 at school participate in this seminar.

The Minister of Education, Youth and Sports wanted to recall the foundation of these actions and more particularly of Cycle 3 at school. All the ministerial missions in the field show that this device was expected by parents with the same level of requirement on the quality of teaching. These schemes offer students from distant islands without a 6th grade class that will allow them to not only reach the expected level for entry into the 5th while staying in their island of residence, but also to strengthen their autonomy to fight against emotional breakdown and school dropout.
